The idea for Catnip Acres was born thirty-two years ago when Carol Pultorak began working as a volunteer at the local animal shelter in Greene County. Carol soon became aware of the second class status assigned to cats in shelters and became determined to reduce the number of cats euthanized.
Carol began taking a single cat to the Pittsburgh spay neuter clinic. That single cat was a lifelong commitment which developed into Catnip Acres.
Founder and president Carol Pultorak's dream became an official non profit 501(c)3 organization in April of 2007.
